This is arguably one of the most diverse and interesting of the issues of Papua New Guinea. This series is rich in flaws and subject to subtle colour variations. This booklet provides a detailed analysis with numerous illustrations and tabulated data for easy reference. Like all the booklets in the series the information is supported with illustrations and a CD with digital scans of the full-sheets of the values of the Small Papua and Large Papua series.
You can now do your own in-depth study using the high resolution scans to examine each stamp in the full-sheets. You can expand any image to beyond a single stamp on the screen of your computer without loosing clarity.
Importantly, the Papua Series booklet examines the difficulties of identification and provides advice and illustrations to ensure correct identification and classification.
The Papua series produced a plathora of varieties and false-varieties (errors due to ink or debris on the plates). This research focuses on the lithographic varieties (those varieties that are cased by the plates themselves and are consistent). It is based upon the research of Melville, Elliot, Rosenblum and Croaker. The outcome is a more refined list of prominent varieties to assist in defining your collection.
All the stamps highlighted in the booklet are also reflected in the Album Supplement pages (available separately). Used together you will be able to build a professional album display confident in your knowledge and understanding.
We hope that having greater access to information concerning these fascinating stamps that your enjoyment will be enhanced as your collection matures with greater depth and understanding.
